Zac takes shelter under a tarp on a rusty boat. Tyler discovers his "stowaway" & the adventure begins in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Zac’s friend and caretaker searches for him while her supervisor threatens to put him into a hospital with a terrible reputation.
As the three main characters
interact each with their own real issues the audience can’t help but be swept
into the journey. They set off on foot
through a swampy landscape. By the time Eleanor catches up with them, they have
built a raft with lumber given to them by a blind preacher. The things that
occur along the way somehow draw the viewer in.
Each relating to these three musketeers in ways only each viewer can
tell. Its touching and relevant to us
all. Despite their trials they are
somehow unmoored from the usual stresses of society for a while. Its here that the
magic happens and connection occurs. Not
unlike Huck and Jim floating down the Mississippi River.
Bluegrass, country songs, & hymns
add to the magic. Watching the
characters relationships develop makes you feel something maybe you have lost
along the way. There is humor, flirtation
and a deepness to the film.
They’ve
each had a tough life -- Its about second chances and new beginnings and dreams. The personal dialog scattered throughout is refreshing. A big
yes on this one.
