Rules to Live by

Mark’s Rules to live by
(Thomas Jefferson & Lincoln inspired several of these)
1.              Laziness leads to poverty.
2.              Never trouble another for what you can do yourself.
3.              Never spend money before you have it. (Housing and college are investments in your future, but should still only be done through much prayer)
4.              Never buy anything you do not want, because it is cheap or on sale.
5.              Pride costs us more than thirst, hunger and cold.
6.              Sin takes us further than we want to go; cost more than we wish to pay; and doesn’t stop when we’re ready.
7.              We seldom repent for having eaten too little
8.              Nothing is troublesome that one does of his own volition
9.              How much pain, never occurred evils, cost us. (stop worrying)
10.        Take things all the time by their smooth handle.
11.       Think as you please and let others as well to prevent disputes. Actions on the other hand must be within the law of the land and never against biblical principles and mandates of Jesus Christ.
12.       When annoyed count 10 before you speak; if very annoyed, count 100.
13.       Compliment 10 people each day for something well done; good manners; or chivalry observed especially from your employees.
14.       Good manners are always in style.
15.       Mind your own business and don’t spread gossip even under the guise of prayer.
16.       If you must lie ensure it’s a good one -- Like Rahab.
17.       It is rarely greener on the other side of the fence.
18.       Godliness with contentment is great gain.
19.       Having is not as enjoyable a thing as wanting; it is not logical, but it often true.
20.       Nowhere is completely safe except in Jesus. Fear is not a lack of courage it’s a God given emotion to keep us out of trouble.
21.       True freedom is only found in total surrender to Christ.
22.       Married couples must submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
23.       If all we seek is our own happiness we will never find it.
24.       A friend must show himself friendly. A true friend is the one who comes in when everyone else is leaving.
25.       All pleasure in this life has a shelf life and must then be set aside; only in God do we find lasting joy and peace.
26.       Love God with all your heart mind soul and strength.
27.       Love your neighbor as yourself.
28.       Honor your mother and father; ignore this to your own ruin.
29.       The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God. (I'm speaking of uncontrolled anger not warfare or capital punishment rightly executed & self defense)
30.       Am I not eliminating my enemy when I make friends with him.
31.       If we look for the bad in people expecting to find it; we surely will.
32.       Truth is truth whether anyone believes it or even know about it. I.E. In 1872 Pierre Pachet, Professor of Physiology made the statement “Louis Pasteur's theory of germs is ridiculous fiction”. Microorganisms, or life forms not visible to the naked eye, were first discovered by Anton van Leeuwenhoek in 1675 with the invention of the microscope. The same goes for spiritual matters. God has set before all mankind the choice of life or death. You ignore Him to your own peril.
